I went to the gym today.. a saturday of all days and I ran.
I'm working on the whole running a half marathon thing. Crazy as it is, I'm still trying to get to running a mile without stopping. I'm using the Couch to 5k program and have really been thankful for the small steps it takes. Well I have hit a crazy milestone for myself: Thursday I ran for 20 minutes straight!! I have NEVER before done that in my life. Even when I was in track or volleyball in high school I only ran short distances. Quite a thrill! Then on Friday I took an easier day and ran a mile straight. Today I ran 15 minutes, walked 3, and then ran 10.. WOW! Today was one of the few times that I thought of the gym as my alone time and really appreciated it as such. None of this has been easy. I've had to force my mind to get over itself and just shut off and KEEP GOING, and what a high! I am still having a hard time wrapping my mind around running for 13 miles but then again I thought the same thing of the 2.5 miles I have done so far!! So, yup, future self look back on this and know that YOU CAN DO IT!!
